Our Savior Lutheran Church - Chicago
October 25th: Final Divine Worship 3:00 PM
Nov. 1: Worship at St. John, Niles, 7429 Milwaukee Ave. 9:30 AM

Our last worship service is Oct. 25th at 3 P.M. We are merging with St. John Lutheran Church in NIles to form a new congregation, Ascension Lutheran Church. We will meet at 7429 Milwaukee Ave in Niles beginning on Nov. 1. We hope to see you there!

Welcome!  Thank you for taking this time to get to know us. The words below in blue are a snapshot of what we are all about. Our Savior Lutheran Church is a place where the gifts of God are handed out in abundance. We are a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, a church body dedicated to proclaiming the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ purely and administering the Sacraments faithfully.

Faith: The pulpit in our sanctuary has the words "We would see Jesus" carved into it. Every Sunday, the worship service shows us Jesus clearly. The worship service is called the "Divine Service," since through the liturgy and preaching the Triune God comes to deliver the forgiveness of sins won by Jesus Christ on the cross. We come as beggars with nothing to offer God, confessing our sins. Our gracious Father responds with His declaration of forgiveness for Christ's sake. Faith is not something that we do, but that the Holy Spirit creates in us through this Word and the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. The Holy Spirit has gathered us, and He keeps us in the one true faith.

Foundation: Jesus Christ is our foundation. Without Him we have nothing. With Him we have everything...treasure beyond words! Christ is our cornerstone, and all that we do is built upon His saving work.

Fellowship: In Acts 2:42, the life of Christians is described in this way: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers" We gather together at Our Savior in worship just as the early Church did. We hear and sing the teaching of the apostles, we have fellowship with one another, we break bread in the Lord's Supper, and we pray together. There are also other opportunities to get together to work on projects, or simply to have fun. We seek to bring the Word of God to people outside the Church, that they may join us in receiving the Lord's gifts of forgiveness!

Future: With our eyes set on Jesus, the future is bright and filled with joy. Our Church is not an exclusive club, but a group of redeemed sinners that gather together around God's Word and Sacraments. New people are always welcome to join us on our walk of faith. Classes are available that explain our beliefs.
